A spiritual book with thought-provoking words and lackluster artwork.
By Kaley Almanza ‧ RELEASE DATE: Nov. 2, 2022
The young girl in Almanza’s debut is deeply devoted to God, and her faith is evident in the text. She expresses her gratitude for the small things in life, from a peanut-butter-and-jelly sandwich to a comfy bed. The narrator’s words, “When I feel, I ALWAYS go to God,” are repeated throughout the book, emphasizing the importance of his presence in her life. The simple language and short sentences make this book an ideal choice for young readers in religious families. Although the text is full of emotion, the illustrations are somewhat lacking in detail. Interior scenes, such as an empty kitchen, are particularly sparse. Despite this, the book’s brevity and strong message of faith will likely keep children engaged.
