Case Lee, a former Delta Force operator, is tasked with a seemingly simple mission by the mysterious Global Resolutions: locate Ruth Hall, a missing professor from Stanford University. However, when Case and his fellow Delta Force retiree Bo Dickerson start their search, they soon realize that the job is far more complex than it initially seemed. Ruth’s husband Bart has also gone missing, and the two keep running into agents from various agencies, including Mossad, SVR, and domestic groups. After a clue leads them to Idaho, Global Resolutions cancels the contract, but Case and Bo continue their search anyway. It soon becomes clear that other parties are after the couple, but Case is determined to help. This leads them to South America, where they face gunfights and high-speed pursuits. This novel, like the other entries in the Case Lee series, is a stand-alone story, and readers can jump right in. The author creates vivid settings, particularly the mountainous region of Idaho that Case and Bo visit. As they search the Halls’ house and offices, they must evade those who are following them. The South American sequence is full of action and tension, and it all leads to a predictable but satisfying conclusion.
