Historic Charleston and its traditional cream teas provide an elegant setting for a thrilling story of murder and chaos.

Theodosia Browning, a tea shop owner in Charleston, South Carolina, is hosting a tea party with her tea sommelier, Drayton Conneley, and chef Haley Parker. The event is to promote Holly Burns’ Imago Gallery, which has recently been given a financial boost from investor Jeremy Slade. However, the gathering is disrupted when a beekeeper appears and sprays the crowd with an unknown substance from his smoker, before shooting the politician Osgood Claxton III.
Theodosia, without hesitation, chases after the killer, but he manages to escape. Detective Pete Riley and his boss, Burt Tidwell, are concerned for her safety, but they know that once Theodosia is on the trail of a murderer, she won’t be deterred. There are many potential suspects, as Claxton was known to be corrupt and was in the midst of a divorce. Holly and Haley’s boyfriends are also suspects. Theodosia can’t ignore their pleas for help, so she sets out to find the killer.
