Thought-provoking exploration of the idea of reality that requires broad and creative thinking.
By Alan Joseph Oliver ‧ RELEASE DATE: Oct. 10, 2022
In this sequel, Oliver further investigates his intricate reinterpretation of consciousness and the afterlife. His first book aimed to comprehend what lies beyond “the other side of zero,” or death, by referencing the yoga sutras of Hindu mystic Patanjali and theoretical studies by physicist David Bohm. This new book was written to answer questions raised in the first, with a focus on elucidating the processes of consciousness. This includes a thorough examination of the “different/higher” state of consciousness known as Samapatti in Buddhist thought. Oliver draws on his personal experiences as a healer to suggest that consciousness can exist outside the physical body. This supports his main argument that consciousness does not necessarily die with the physical form. He poses thought-provoking questions, such as how the “enigma” of God fits into his understanding of reality. To explain complex concepts, Oliver uses yoga diagrams, for example to illustrate the relationship between physical space and atomic matter. He also describes altered states of consciousness that few readers will have experienced, such as “The flashing lights remained for about twenty minutes, eventually giving way to an unreal garden scene….” He then uses his in-depth knowledge of the yoga sutras to analyze and explain such events, allowing readers to reevaluate the limits of reality. Although Oliver’s language may seem daunting and obscure, his use of personal experience to explain complex phenomena makes the subject more accessible. This follow-up study can be read as a stand-alone work, but the concepts explored will be better understood when read in conjunction with the first book in the series. Those who have already read Oliver’s previous volume can expect a similarly stimulating mental workout.
